What other LEGO Zelda sets would you like to see after the Deku Tree?

With this set apparently being the first of a new Lego Zelda line, Team NL sat down to ponder what other Hyrulean spots and personalities could do for epic Lego sets in the future…

Kokiri Forest & Lost Woods (Gavin Lane, editor)

I’m still shocked that Nintendo didn’t push for some weird new innovation with the Animal Crossing and Zelda franchises, but I’m also excited to see this following the example of the adult-focused NES and Mario 64?’ Block.

My mind immediately goes to Ocarina. Temple of Time would be nice, but the OoT version isn’t that exciting – I’d rather see a Forest Temple diorama featuring battle with Phantom Ganondorf or in Lost Woods with a baby Skull on the tree trunk with a light brick providing a spotlight for Link’s Ocarina solo. An Epona figure it’s a no-brainer, with some Lon Lon Ranch fences to jump on, plus Malon, Talon and Ingo minifigs. And how about it clock tower from Majora’s Mask with the ominous Moon looming above?

In fact, seeing Link’s house included in the Deku set and hearing Ollie complain about the lack of a Mido minifigure has me thinking about Character-based expansion packs for the Kokiri Forest section, too. These would be more affordable little sets with a Kokiri minifig and a landscape detail. A little Mido guarding the arch that leads to the Deku Tree, the girl sitting in the shop saying ‘Hello!’, the guy fighting in a stone ring, a Saria waving some grass filled with rupees or something.

There’s no shortage of ideas for grander sets, but I’d also like to see something smaller. I’m also trying to see what a Ganondorf minifig would look like.

Dragon Roost Island (Ollie Reynolds, staff writer)

I was curious how Wind Waker’s unique art style would translate to Lego, but when I started thinking about possible sets, I immediately settled on Dragon Roost Island. Now, I’m under no illusion that something like this would cost a huge amount of money, but well, it would be so cold.

Just picture it, a complete Lego replica of the island’s afterlife, complete with palm trees, bomba flowers, a swirling vortex of smoke atop the volcano, and of course, Great Valoo himself. With the minifigures, you can have Link, some Rito clan members, Chuchus, Kargarocs, and heck, even the Wind Lord, Zephos. And of course, you’ll need some kind of speaker to play the iconic Dragon Roost Island theme tune. Yes, this thing would probably cost at least £500…

You know what, though, I’ll settle for a Lego version of it Wind Waker boss battle in Gohma. This thing is very bad.

Four Giants (Alana Hagues, Deputy Editor)

Majora's Mask Moon

Yes, this is very ambitious, I know, but I want my ideas to be a little crazy. I also want the Temple of Time from OoT, mind you, but I’ll settle for the absolute madness that would be the Four Giants, trying to stop the Moon from falling.

The guardian deities of Termina are central figures in Majora’s Mask, and there are fewer iconic images from that game than the four of them stopping the moon from destroying the earth. This would be one of those builds that wouldn’t have a lot of gimmicks, honestly – but it would be a tricky one. Four buildable giants – each with one miniature version of the mask that you must reach to free them – and a big moonmaybe a half moon to keep the cost down.

Other things you can get with this are Link, Skull Kid minifigures (although I hope we’ve all seen this amazing Skull Kid build from a few years ago), The Merry Mask Seller, or The Moon ChildrenPerhaps, if the Moon is only a crescent, the flat side could be the location itself with the tree in the center.

Rito Village (Jim Norman, staff writer)

Rito village

Really, there isn’t a single Zelda location, item, or character that I not i want to see it made of lego. So I’ve tried to be realistic about it. Zora’s domain? Very wet. Minish village? Very small. Shopping Kara Kara? Lots of sand (thick, rough and irritating). But Rito village it’s a group I can imagine.

Just imagine: a vertical construction with a central perch-shaped rock in its center, winding stairs with houses (houses?) on the sides, and enough details to fill three times Hyrule Historia. Lean into the BOTW theme and give us a Paraglider for the link minifigure. Oh god, there might be a Kass figure! With a little accordion! I’m getting more sold on this idea by the minute.

However, what is most likely to hit my bank balance would be a series of display pieces like LEGO helmet dioramas, the Infinity Gauntlet or Star Wars dioramas. My shelves are already buckling under the pressure of the models I currently own, but I’m sure I can tighten up a detailed Master Sword, Hylian Shield or Ocarina. After all, I’m an adult.

Anything else you’d rather have than any of the above? Stained sage window kits, perhaps? A recreation of Hyrule Castle’s stealth garden? Can anything else beat Jim’s suggestion of a small Kass with a small accordion? Tell us your favorite ideas below.
