YouTube just gave users over 75 games they can play for free

to YouTube has introduced Playables, a collection of free games available to play within the platform. This YouTube section includes more than 75 games belonging to a variety of popular genres, ranging from puzzles to sports.

Games available on unconventional platforms is something people have seen before. After Netflix incorporated gaming as part of its offerings in 2021, it appears it’s YouTube’s turn to lure gamers to its platform. As a result, the Google-owned company’s latest feature appears to be a unique move not typically seen by video-sharing platforms.

YouTube recently revealed that it is introducing a new Playables section within the platform, adding a long list of games for users to play. As part of this, there are a variety of light games, including some notable mobile gaming IPs, that are available to play for free on the web, Android, and iOS. At the moment, Playables is only available in a limited number of countries with more to follow “over the coming months”. Apparently, this feature is rolling out after being tested by users in select regions over the past few months.

On YouTube, users can access Playables from the Explore menu available on the home page. From there, they can play games belonging to the best franchises, such as the very successful ones Angry Birds series. As mentioned in the announcement, players can also save their game progress and check their all-time high scores. In addition, they can bookmark a game, share it with their friends, or send comments to YouTube by tapping the three dots or the “More” menu and selecting the appropriate option.

The “Playables” section contains mostly basic games with straightforward controls and rules. In addition, there are some classics, such as Ludo King, Angry Birds showdownAND Cut the Rope. While these games have built a strong following over time, they may still not be exciting enough for certain gamers who are used to playing console-quality games on mobile as well.
